India has made significant efforts to ratify key international conventions aimed at ending discrimination against women. In recent years, the Government of India has launched several flagship initiatives to promote gender equality, including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, and Mahila-E-Haat. To support women’s political empowerment, the Women’s Reservation Bill, which provides 33 percent reservation for women across all levels of Indian politics, was approved by Parliament. This landmark move aims to boost female political participation. Additionally, the United Nations (UN) India Business Forum partnered with the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) to establish the UN-India NITI Aayog Investor Consortium for Women Entrepreneurs, designed to strengthen female entrepreneurship and foster a supportive investment ecosystem.
